ST. PETER'S CLUB.

• 9 : . ANNUAL MEETING. / The twelfth annual", meeting of St Peter's Club was well attended last evening. The president, tho llev.' G. P. Bavys, was in the chair. The report stated that the club was very pleased to welcome back its esteemed president after his eight ' months' holiday abroad, from which he had returned in excellent health and spirits. ■ During- his absenco the Itcv. H. U. Blackburns had acted as president throughout the session, and made himself very . popular., amongst the members. 'They heartily appreciated the extreme.interest.he took in the welfare of the club during his' short stay amongst them. -The club now consisted of 70 active. members and 12 honorary members. It was hoped that during the coming session members, one and all, would roali6e that on attendance at tho Thursday evening meetings, depended the real succcss of the club. The balancesheet showed a. credit balance.of 18s. 6d., towards which there were 110 special contributions except Mr. Edward Pearce's donation of £5, for which the .club .heartily thanked him. A large sum of money was spent ,on furniture, which had. con- ' siderably improved and beautified the rooms. The club recognised the necessity of obtaining the services of a caretaker for the -rooms, especially-, the billiardroom, and recommended tho incoming committee to take-this matter in hand. Hearty thanks were expressed to Mr. E. L. Burgess, Mr'. G. : T. Hall, and Mr. Robin for lectures. . One billiard tournament was successfully held during the year. The first prize was won by Mr. F. H. Chinn, and second by Mr. H. M. ICilgour. Several pleasant evenings we're spent 'in games competitions with . the Royal New Zealand Artillery, St. Mark's, St. Thomas's, and Roman Catholic Clubs. Tho secretary and treasurer had', both completed their five years' service in those onerous eapacitics. ,

Perry; trustees, Hon. Hamilton Gilmer and Lieutenant-Colonel Hume; committee, Messrs. L. Hulhert, H. King, H. M. Kilgour, G. W. Morgan, and A. G. Williams; lion, secretary, Mr. Gerald Bell; lion, treasurer,.Mr.• Geo. J_,awrence; librarian, Mr. F. G. Major. It was decided to recognise the cervices of the secretary and treasurer by granting them each an honorarium.
