DANGER IN FLAMES.

TERRIBLE SCENE AT AN EAST HAM BALL, Tlie Blocking spectacle of a (lancor ablaze in their midst caused a painful sensation among the 400 guests at a dance at East Ham Town Hall (London) in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. The victim is Miss Lily Lewington, a resident in the locality, who was taken to the l'nssmore Edwards Cottage Hospital in a' precarious condition. . "Shortly after two o'clock in tho morning, at a moment when the dancers were selecting their partners, shrieks were heard, and Miss Lewington rushed^into the room from one-of the corridors with' her clothing ablaze. She was dressed, to represent a snow maiden, in a costume liberally besprinkled with cotton wool, and in a moment she was enveloped in-flames from head to foot. ' Heavy plush ourtains at one.of the entrances wero torn down by a gentleman, and Miss Lewington was wrapped in these. Tho flames were 'extinguished, but not. before tho lady had been severely burned on the face, arms, and legs. • The accident is supposed to liave been caused by a lighted match carelessly thrown down ltv n smoker. . .
