COLD STORAGE OF FRUIT.
The 'Government will probably store some of the fruit of tho experiment farms this year in cold chambers. This will be for the' purpose of proving the value of cold storage —and perhaps correcting any errors of temperature or moisture-rand then encouraging its cxtensivo adoption.. It is generaly held that successful' cold storage would enable fruitgrowers to net considerably higher prices for their fruit. The question-of-cold storage has been under consideration by the officers of the Department for some time past, and the securing of suitablo stores kept at the right temperature above freezing-point has been in hand./ The test will be mad 6 at tho :tores of tho Auckland Farmers' Freezing CompanV. The; charge is one farthing per pound for Ijie first month, and one-eighth pence per pound for each month afterwards. That will amount to Id. for seven.mouths.
