HOSPITAL BOARD.

The Wellington Hospital Board met yesterday, when there were present: —Messrs. J. P. Luke (chairman), F. T. Moore, J. W. M'Ewan, It. C. Kirk, and C. J. Crawford. It was reported that during September twelve patients had been admitted to the Otaki - Hospital and nine discharged; one patient' had died, and there were ' four females and eight males under treatment; There had'been nine operations under anaesthetics. The wards had'been very busy all the month, and work was going on satisfactorily. Dr. Valintine had visited the Otaki Hospital ■ and Sanatorium, and expressed satisfaction at' tho work being done. At the Otaki Sanatorium' during Seeptember two patients had been admitted, six discharged, and there were eight females and twelve males under treatment. The work was "going on- satisfactorily. The reports (were adopted. Tho statement of finances showed bank balance, £1697 lis. 5d.; subsidy due, £2758 os. 3d.; levies still due, £94 Bs. 4d., making a total of £4550 to come 'in. The accounts passed' for payment totalled £1809.155. Id. It was decided to thank tho Hospital Trustees for their gift of X rays apparatus. The board resolved that, suggestions made by the engineor as to improvements of tho bathing facilities should be carried out as opportunity presented. Improvements in the sceptic tank system wore left to Mr. Mcstayer t-o carry out as soon as possible. A discussion took place as to tho method of application of Mrs. Emily Brown's legacy.' Mr. Kirk suggested that the amount of about £1500 should bo invested, and tho interest devoted to the making of permanent improvements to tho hospital. The chairman thought the endowment of a bed in the general hospital would be moro suitable, as a memorial. It was decided that the matter should bo left for the chairman and Mr. Kirk to arrango.
