THE ROYAL TRAIN.

The most special of specials is the Royal train. This magnificent train was built at Wolverton, and was paid for and is still maintained by all the railways jointly. You will always know it by its colors, those of the old L.N.W.R., chocolate lower and white upper panels, and by its lining of gold leaf. When this train was repainted in 1932 it was proposed to change the colors to L.M.S. red, but at His Majesty’s own request the old dual color scheme was retained. This livery was once known the world over, and, to many people's minds, is the most effective ever seen.

The Royal train represents the acme of the carriage-builder’s art, and is luxurious without being ornate. To see this gorgeous train attached to a spick and span locomotive speeding along the track is a thrilling sight.
