Messrs C. W. J. Roberts (Mayor), G. Stumbles, F. Jolly, H. Bowie, A. F. Key, JllO. Stephens, J. A. Gordon, J. R. Munro, Wm. jelley, G. Wisbart, C. Sanders, G. Burrows, N. C. YeOman, F. VV. Partridge, and J. L. Stewart Wright attended a meeting in the Council Chambers on Monday evening last, when the Mayor reported on the result of his mission to Dunedin.

Mr Roberts said he commenced work, at q a.m. in Dunediu on Monday and finished up at 11 p.m. on "Saturday. He had had a busy week but it was wonderful. The way in which the Dunediu, nianfacturers one after another, heartily took up the proposal to exhibit their goods in Cromwell could not be described as other than wonderful.

Reports were received from the Hall Committee advising that arrangements had been successfully completed for the use of both the Athenaeum and Oddfellows' Halls for the display of Manufacturers' exhibits, while the Publicity and Display Committee reported steps taken to ensure publicity for the Exhibition.

The Mayor stated that Mr Arthur Barnett had generously offered tbe committee a Joan of his "Mrs Hippo's Mechanical Band," which had proved a very great attraction in Dunediu. The secretary was instructed to write Mr Barnett thanking him and advising that the band would be assembled by a competent motor engineer.

It was reported that the Railway Department had agreed to make a concession on freights of all goods consigned to the Exhibition, in that all goods would be taken back to Dune Jin free of charge if certified as having been for exhibit only. Several matters of detail were left to the respective sub-eominittces in d the secretary.

The postmaster, Mr Burrows, agreed to make the necessary arrangements with the various broadcasting stations for publicity for the Exhibition "on the air."

It was resolved that charges for remission be adults is for the eveningsessions and 6d For the afternoons, while children are to be admitted free during the afternoons and charged Gd at night; season tickets admitting to all openings to be sold at 2s 6d. The secretary wlis instructed to write to all school committees in (he district bringing before the committees the Exhibition and advising that children if nqcompanlied by their teacher or a. responsible person will be admitted free.

It, was decided to approach Mr L. Paterson with a request that he would supervise the street decorations, and that the Power Board be approached with, a view to its co-operation in die matter of street illuminations and extra, lighting for the halls. Arrangements would also be made for the employment of the unemployed in the work of street decorations.

Mr 1.. Jolly, from whom an apology for non-attendance was received. reported that his committee had the work of musical programmes for each 'veiling well in hand. It was decided to invite the Upper Clutha Fruitgrowers Association to make an exhibit of Otago Central ipples.

The secretary was instructed to secure the 'Rahui' premises for additional space as both halls had been 'u?!y hooked.

It was resolved that no selling of merchandise in opposition to local businesses he permitted cither in the 'mils or in the street.

Mr C. C. Sanders agreed to supply i fat bullcclY and sheep for a live weight-guessing competition.
