Cromwell Bowling Club.

The annual meeting of the above was held on Kriday. joth September. There was a good attendance of members.

The annual report was as follows;

In presenting the annual report your committee desires to congratulate tin- club on tlic success!ul season it has had. The! club's finance at bank now show a credit balance of £24 Gs 6d. and l hi- position must be considered satisfactory. The club's numerical strength remains much the same and it is gratifying to note that nearly all those who were country members last season joined up as full members tor the present one. The inter-club fixtures this year again provided a clo>e finish, Cromwell and Roxburgh having to play off. Roxburgh proved the winners and we congratulate Lheni. The local singles championship tourney was won by Mr J-., jolly, with Mr 11. Wilkinson runner up. Maintaining lus ((insistent farm Mr Jolly later annexed the sing-les championship of the Goldfields. The tropiiy donated by Teachers Ltd.. was also won by this player. We congratulate Mr 'Jolly on his very creditable performance. The B-grade championship was won by Mr Old*. with Mr G. Partridge runner up. Mr Olds also won this competition two years ago. During the year we were again favoured with a visit from the j Jn\ ereargill bowlers. Their visits are much appreciated and good games invariably result. Mr Steanes, the manager of the Invercargill rinks, presented four small cups to the club lor competition play. Suitable thanks were returned for the handsome gift, anil your committee hopes that suitable competition for them will be arranged for the coming season. During the visit of the Dunedin bowlers, it is perhaps worthy of note that when their match with Cromwell was over, Mr Hutchison, who had just then returned from the I'nited Kingdom tour, complimented the club on haying such a splendid green adding, in all sincerity, that it was one of the best he had ever played on. These remarks reflect credit on our greenkeeper, and are perhaps appropriate in view of the fact that our green is the official one for the coming season. In conclusion our committee expresses the hope that the ensuing- season will be a successful one. and thanks the retiring officials for their services during the year. The following office-bearers were elected lor the ensuing term:— President. |. Grant. Vice-presidents, L. McDonald. VV. Blackler, and Dr. Harrison. Secretary. 11. T. Wilkinson. iGeneral Committee. G. Stumble-, J. Dennison. R. Thomas, K. Follv, L. Jolly, R. Olds, C. Smart, (;'. Wishart, j and J. Grant. Sole selector. H. T. ! Wilkinson. Greenkeeper. W. Holden. j Match Committee, president, seere- i tary, E. Jolly, and R. Olds. Opening day was fixed for 12th I October, provided the green was in fit condition.
