Cromwell Athenaeum Committee.

The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday. Present : Messrs Shore (chairman), Jolly, Wisharf, Stephens, Richards, aud Smart. Inward correspondence included a letter from the Fire Underwriters Association re alterations 'to the electric lighting installation at the hall, and another from Messrs G. 13. Mr Jolly reported that at the request of the'manager of the Rise and Shine dredge, he had visited the reserve, in company with Dr Shore. The dredgemaster suggested working the ground on lines which he considered an advantage to the committee. Mr Jolly briefly outlined the proposals, and thereafter the following resolutions were carried : That the action of the dredgemaster of the Rise and Shine C), in depositing the tailiugs,at the top boundary of the claim out in the river instead of against the bank as in the agreement, and thus turn the current of the river, be approved.
