London, March 2. The coal miners strike is now in full swing, one million men are idle. Lack of fuel is hampering innumerable industries. In Scotland one hundred thousand colliers have struck, and fifty steamers are idle in Glas* gow. There is some excitement amongst the Lancashire spinners who have only a fortnights coal supply. Sixty-eight par cent of the owners will now give a minimum wage. The miners insist on their schedule, and will now negotiate in view of a poss* ible reduction. Robbery and incendiarism have been resumed and many of those engaged in looting at Pekin, China, were captured and executed. The damage and losses are estimated at three million pounds. The Legations are preparing for a seige. Suffragettes demonstrated in Fleet Street and the Strand, carrying large muffs concealing hammers, and at a preconcerted signal they smashed hundreds of windows in official residences and of many leading shops. One hundred and twentyone arrests were made, including Mrs Pankhurst who broke the Prime Ministers window. The damage is estimated at* £4OOO.
