CLYDE v. LOWBURN. A return match between the above clubs was played at Clyde on Saturday, in ideal weather, With the side j which Lowburn were able to muster for the trip, they were not particularly sanguine as to their chance' of winning, but eventually succeeded after a close and interesting game by 22 runs, j Clyde went first to the wickets and made a poor start, the fourth wicket being down for 14 runs, but a useful partnership carried the score to 68 before the fifth wicket fell. The i next four wickets only added five runs, but another stand followed and the 1 innings closed for 108, towards which j Spain 12 (not out) and McKenzie 88, ; were the chief contributors, scoring | 80 out of the total 108, extras totalling 11. Lowburn made a fair start, i but with five wickets down for 45 did i not appear in a winning position. A usrful innings by W. Willson, (89. not out), and scores above the average from the, “tail end” saved the situation, and the innings produced 125. Other double figure scores were Hill 18, Swann 14, and Kloogh 10.
