Visit of Dunedin Citizens and M.P's.

The tour through Central Otago of a party including a number of prominent Dunedin citizens, members of the Chamber of Commerce, Otago Central and Lawrence-Roxburgh Railway Leagues, and Irrigation Leagues, and newly elected members of Parliament, organised by Mr A. S. Moritzsou, will be commenced to-day. The object of the delegates is to judge, by personal inspection, the possibilities of the district, and thereafter to suitably urge on the Government the introduction of railway and irrigation works, on which to a great extent depends the future prosperity of the central district. The party is in every respect representative of those whose influence in the desired direction might be effective and includes his Worship the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr Burnett, (chairman of the Otago Central Railway League), Mr G. R. Ritchie (president of the Chamber of Commerce), the Hon. J. T. Paul, Messrs G. M. Thomson, C. E. Statham, A. S. Malcolm, R. Scott, W. Fraser, E. H. Clark, M.IVs, Messrs M. Cohen, A. Moritzson E. F. Duthie, Jas. Hutchison, W. D. Stewart, P. R. Sargood, W. E. Sargood, C. A. Piper, Geo. H. Stewart (Tuapeka County chairman), W. Gow, R. Hudson, J. Inglis Wright, A. S. Paterson, H. C. Campbell, A Bathgate, Crosby Morris, Dngald M‘Pherson, John Loudon, J. F. Arnold, E. 11. Lough, A. S. Orbell, H. \ r . Fultou, Geo. Thomson, and F. W. Furkert, and press representatives. The visitors leave Dunedin by train this morning, and will be met at Clyde by a number of motor cars which will be sent in' advance, by which the tour through the district will be conducted, Cromwell willjinall probability be reached between 5.30 and 6 p.m this evening, when the party will be welcomed by the Mayor and Councillors. In the evening they will be entertained at a social in the Athenteum Hall, commencing at 8 p.ra, and a considerable portion of the programme will be devoted to discussing matters in regard to railway construction and irrigation, due allowance being made for addresses by members of the party. On Tuesday morning the party will continue the journey through the Upper Clutha \ r alley, visiting Mr James Mackenzie’s orchard, Mr R. Olds farm and Mount Pisa Station, where the members have been invited to lunch by Mr R, J. Heudrie. The party then proceeds to Pembroke, Glendhu, the head of Lake Wanaka, Hawea, and Tarras, returning to Clyde on Wednesday evening. Arrangements are well in hand at the various centres for entertaining the visitors, and nothing will be left undone to bring under their notice the possibilities of the soil. Details in connection with inspecting the various localities will be arranged on arrival of the party.
