Nevis Sports.
The Nevis Athletic Club hell their annual sports meeting on the Nevis Racecourse on January 19th, the events being got oil" at intervals between the Jockey Club's programt'na. The sports passed off very successfully, good entries and close finishes being the order. In Mr J. Michael (secretary) the club had ;i most zealous and efficient officer. Other office-bearers were also very attentive to their duties. The results were : Maiden Pace, 75yds, first £l, second 10s.—•J. Sutherland) 1 ; \V. Burrows, 2 ; a close finish : seven entries. High Jump, first CI, second 10s, —\V. George, (2in) M't 9iu, 1 ; W. Scott (sc-.) and J. Sutherland (scr.) Ift Sin 2 ; six entries. JNevis Handicap, 130 yds, first CI, second CI.—W. Scott, (3yds) 1; B.Fitzgerald, (scr.), 2 ; won by two yards ; seveu entries. Tutting the Shot (101b), first CI, second 10s.—K. Kennedy (scr.), 30ft •Jin. 1; P. Sopcr (12in), 2; eight entries. 220 yds Handicap, first £2. second CI, -11. Fitzgerald (Byds), 1 ; W, Scott (scr.) 2 ; won by inches ; four entries. Long Jump, first CI, second 10s, — 11. Fitzgerald (scr.), 18ft 7in, 1; W. Burrows (2ft), 17ft tin, 2 ; live entries. Cycle If ace, one mile, first trophy presented by Briscoe and Co, second trophy presented by Mr J. Lewis.—W.
