Dredging and Mining.

The river is falling steadily, and is still at a low level, so there is every pi'ospect of it keeping down for some time yet. No 2 Electric was stopped for three days last week on account of a breakage. The No 1 ground is improving, and it is more than likely they will pick up the rich lend of gold now as they are getting near the famous Cornish beach. The Junction tumbler has arrived, and they will probably get a start on Thursday. The Revival has lost the nice wash they had on the .shallow ground, and the present prospects are very poor, for they cannot bottom the deep ground in the middle of the river. The dredgemaster of the Rising Sun reports —"Dredged 125hrs for the week, and worked ahead 14ft. The ground worked way similar to last week. The gutter is making towards the east corner and is still very deep. Had several stoppages to put in ladder rollers and new di'iving ropes. Machinery running well."
