DUNSTAN DISTRICT NOTES.

[By “ Wanderer.”]

Tiic Messrs Donnedy have secured the services of Joe Ai'llroy. It is young fellows like the Donuelly Bros, who deserve a win, I venture to surmise that their place at Lauder should be very suitable for rearing and training thoroughbreds. They are breeding from that good old mare Tui. Air B. Harrington, Ophir, has Tommy Kelly training for him ; the team is Verepic and Young Fox. I would not be surprised to sec Fancy trot well if she were again prepared. On making inquiries I am informed that the Alexandra Derby candidate, Fair Wind, is not being prepared. Mr J. M'Archur, junr,, of Strat j-Clyde, has a nice Liberty Patchen from the dam of Patience. Mr Jopp has two nice youngsters (one yearling aud a f■ >al at foot) by Del Paso— The Witch. When it is remembered The Witch is the dam of Wizard, we can expect to see these youngsters turn out second to none in New Zealand, aud these are big words. I also hear glowing accounts from Ida Valley of a two-year-old Berlin Abdallah and a yearling Del Paso, the property of Mr George Rivers. I hear Mr Inder, of Blackstone Hill, has a strong team iu work. Aly informant not being a horsey man could not give me details, hut 1 fancy the team consists of the Derby candidate sunfl nver, Morgan, Bay Bess and probably Dun Joseph. Passing Mr Paul’s farm at Spottis I noticed Venus, formerly the property of Mr Webb, of Bush Inn, Riccarton, and now owned by the Alexandra jockey, W. M'Naught, with a nice colt foal at foot by Cheap Jack. Given a fair share of luck I expect to see this youngster advance Jack’s reputation still higher. At present he has a reputation of no mean order. And I can confidently recommend-him to the breeders of the Alamototo, where he is at present located. Air John White’s Lady Norah has a nice foal running at her side. I hear it is by Epicure. A smart little mare was the same lady. Another Quickshot is nominated for the Taieri.
