A Beauty Factory.

There is in St. Louis a prosperous beauty factory where many kiuds of defective features can be repaired or reformed. Noses that are too large are shortened; others that are too small are supplemented by additions of suitable shape to the rest of the features. Ears that stand out like sign pests are gently repressed, and induced to assume a position of less prominence. The circulars sent out by the factory contain portraits of patients taken before treatment and after, and fhe contrast between the two is naturally surprising. When a man compiles his own circular, why (writes X and Z in tne Glohe) should he not make it telling? A lady with a twisted mouth on one side of the page becomes on the other a being of the rarest charm, the lips especially showing that Cupid's bow that is so often talked- about but not very often seen. A pair of ears standing out at either side of the head like large shells are shown on the opposite page, not only close iittmg, but about half the size of the erring ones, and a skilful touch or two applied to the features gives them a charm that they certainly had no claim to previously. What the circular entitles a "wicked nose" is a very long one with a ripple in it and a massive tip large enough in itself to serve any ordinary, humble minded human being as the Entire article. This, in the beauty factory, is pared down to one of the dainty noses now in fashion. Other varieties of noses are entitled the u homely," a delicious touch, the "corkscrew " the beacon, and the pug. The beacon is the only one that seems obscure. The Tartar nose, depressed and insignificant, needs a different treatment from any of the others,, as material^has to be supplied to supplement its deficiencies. This is done by "pushing up the adjacent portion of the face," a method that sounds decidedly uncomfortable. Flapping ears are enumerated among the deformities that can be effectively treated. The variety Seems unknown in our own country. ,
