TEACHERS' INSTITUTE.
A meeting of the Otago Central Branch, of the Otago Educational lustitute was held in the Cromwell school on Saturday. Though it was the annual meeting, there was but a poor attendance. Mr Warburton (President) occupied the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed ; and the inward correspondence was read aud received. The balance sheet and report for the year 1894-95 was read and adopted. The meeting then proceeded to elect office bearers for the next year, the following being elected :—President, Mr J. G. Closs ; Vice President, Air James Fleming; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Miss M. Anderson ; Delegate to committee of management, Mr F. S. Aldred, of Greytown. It was decided to request the delegate to bring up at the annual meeting, the questions of contrioutions from country branches, aud of the mode of electing representatives to the council of the N.Z. Institute. It wis decided to hold the next meeting at Alexandra, on August 3rd. Mr vVarouriou tneu read a paper on "Colonial Character." (Tnis will appear in our next issue.) A vote of tuauks to Mr Warburton for his paper brought the meeting to a close.
