TAUMATA DOG TRIALS.
I The fourth annual clog trials of the I Taumata Collie Club were held iu Mr Shirley's paddock ou Wednesday, 'May :i. The day was beautifully fine and a good number turned out to watch the events. The sheep, which were kindly lent by Mr Carruthcrs, tested most of the dogs in command and skill. The paddock was an ideal one, but the work on tho whole was the poorest ever seen at Taumata. The following a-re the results:— Head and pull, about 500 yards (18 entries): P. Gent's Don, 16 points, 1; H. Eogerson's Storm, JS points, 2. In' this event five points were allowed to dogs that had never won a first prize. Driving through three sets of poles ' and yarding (15 entries): J. B. McArthur's Fidus, 23 points, 1; W. J. Bennett's Tip, 21 points, 2. The ladies provided dinner and afternoon tea, and visitors were loud in their praise of the fare provided. The sheep weight-guessing competition, (prize ,Jos) was won by Mr W. Miller, junr., who handed it back to the committee, the result of the day's proceedings amounting ' to a little over £B, which is to be used by the school children in making articles for the Bed Gross,
