SOCIAL AT WAIRUNA.

The special services to mark the tenth anniversary of the Wairuna Presbyterian Church were held last Sunday, ]sth just. The preacher on this occasion was the Rev. Arch. McNeur, an old ,Waii'una boy, who has recently been ordained a minister of the Presbyterian Church. The following evening the usual social in connection with the anniversary services was held in the church and was largely attended. Mr Lennox, the student in charge of the parish, occupied the chair. The report of tlie church treasurer showed the financial side of affairs to be in a sound condition, and the Sabbath school superintendent's report stated that the past year had been one of the most successful in every way in the history of the school.

The Rev. Mr McNeur was the principal speaker of the evening, and gave a stirring address on "Personality." Other friends of the congregation also delivered short interesting speeches.

But without doubt the feature of the entertainment was the (Jisplay given by the Sunday school children, who provided the greater part of the programme. The talent displayed in their singing,' recitations and dialogues came as a great surprise to the majority of those present, and drew forth from the chairman the remark that the master of Knox College would have been delighted with the elocution that evening. Mr •Muir, of Clinton, who came out to assist, was in good form, and his two solos ■were greatly appreciated, as was also Mr Wilson's cornet selection.
