PRESENTATIONS.

TO ME AND MBS G. W. BAIN. Mr G. W. Bain, who has for the past five years been accountant in the Baiclutha branch of the Bank of New Zealand, and who has now been transferred to Clinton to take up the management of the bank there, was on Saturday evening entertained by Baiclutha friends in the rooms of the Clutha Club. There were about 40 present, including about a dozen non-members of the Club, Dr Brugh, the president of the Club, being in the chair. Jn proposing the health of Mr Bain, the doctor made eulogistic reference to the guest of the evening, to his good-fellowship, to his business ability, and to his unfailing courtesy both in and out of business. On behalf of his Baiclutha friends he presented Mr Bain with a silver-mounted pocket flask and a travelling rug. The toast was spoken to by Messrs E. J. Boyd, D. T. Fleming, R. R. Grigor, JV'E. Thomson, A. Bishop, G. W. Waymouth and others, and suitably replied to by Mr Bain. The health of Mrs Bain and family was honoured, and also the health of Mr Bain's successor (Mr Fraser), to which that gentleman replied. Several other toasts—Visitors, Press, Banks and Chairman—were Honoured, the speakers in every instance having a good word to say of the departing guest, wishing him success at Clinton and speedy, promotion. A most enjoyable function broke up shortly before midnight with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." . On Friday evening Mrs Bain was enteutained by lady friends at a "fivehundred" evening and presented with a set of afternoon teacups and saucers. Mrs Brugh, in an excellent and appropriate speech, made the presentation, which was suitably acknowledged by Mrs Bain.
