INCHCLUTHA ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Inehclutha Road, River and Drainage Board was held on Thursday evening to consider matters in connection with the erection of the flood banks on Inehclutha, There were present; Messrs Joseph Mosley (chairman), Weir, Audoraou, Smith, John Mosley and Bell.

The Chairman stated that the district engineer had made an inspection on March 5, of the works of raising and strengthening the flood banks completed and now under construction, and that contracts Nos. lj 2 and 5 were passed. The chainfian also stated that the district engineer had said the Government would only give £ for £ up to amount Of board engineer's estimate for the work) £1832 4s, instead of £ for £ up to £looo.—The clerk was instructed to communicate with the Hon. James Allen in connection with the same. The clerk was instructed to write Mr J. D. Willocks stating that the board would stop the work of the erection of the bloodbanks on his property unless he fenced the floodbanks or agreed in writing to do so. In the meantime the erection of the floodbanks is to be suspended. The clerk was instructed to write Mr Wm. Mulrine, Lakeside, and request him to keep his cattle out of the auxiliary drain, Inehclutha, otherwise steps would be taken to make him repair damages to the drain. Mr Weir moved,' and Mr John Mosley seconded, and it was carried, that any ratepayers on Tnphclutha working on the lfoodbanks with a two-horse team in ploughing or scooping be paid at the rate of 15s a day. It was moved by Mr Bell, and seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried, that all ratepayers using a three-horse team and two drays be paid at the rate of 18s a day. The Chairman stated that he was prepared to put on three horses and two drays, and Messrs Weir and Anderson stated that they each would give a team free of charge on coutract No. 3. Mr Bell stated that he would give a team on the work on the fioodbank through his property. It was moved by Mr Bell, and seconded by Mr Weir and carried, that the inspector be empowered to hire scoops and drays-for work on the floodbanks. The meeting then closed.
