HANDLING OF MEAT.
AT LONDON DOCKS. CiISBOItNE, -March 10. At a meeting held at Ui.sborne early in February, ac which Mr J. H. Estili, representing the Port of London Authority, debated with Mr \Y. I). Ly.snar, of Uisborne, the subject of facilities at I London, and West of England ports for handling New Zealand produce. Mr Estill stated that New Zealand meat was being cl.st;lrar.getl at the lloysl Victoria docks by elevators and endless conveyers were carrying the meat under cover direct to tile carts and railway j vans- Mr Lysnar challenged this statement and sa.d that the mere- j ly carried the meat to a sorting base in ' the vicinity of the ship, Mr Estill I challenged Mr Lysnar to cable to the | High Comm'.s : om>r for information oil the subject and this MrLysnar straightaway did. He has now received a cable from the- High Gommksioner through the Prime Minister, aw follows: "Please inform Mr Lysnar that there has been i no alteration in the handling of New ; Zealand meat at the Victoria. Docks since his visit, but the Port of London i Authority bas commenced work on sort- I ing sheds by which frozen meat will be dealt with under cover." Mr Lysnar I therefore claims that Mr Estill mistook i the facts and says, "This is not the I only glaring inaccuracy which has been circulated by an opponent- of our grow- I ing cause."
