CORRESPONDENCE.

BARNEGO EMBANKMENT. TO THI EDITOR. Sir, —In your issue of June 28 •' Facts'' says that my statements to the Prime Minister were erroneous and incorrect. I never used the expression '' two feet" as an argument. The point I impressed was, seeing the Government was giving a grant to the borough to heighten and strengthen its banks, we were justified in asking assistance to raise ours, to which Hon. Jas. Allen replied, "If you raise the bank in one place you must raise it in another.'' So where does "Facts' " mis-statements come in? Neither am I an interested party, and we have had the advice-of an engineer. "Facts" is lamenting over our new bank and never mentioned the top one, which when completed will perhaps some day show him the depth of his argument. So, "Facts," try again, | and sign your name. Begin at the top and not at the bottom, for the Irishman says a "fact" is only a lie and a-half. —I am, etc., E. H. nT.ATtmg.
