- Tite confidence of the Owaka settlers in the freezing works was plainly seen on Tuesday, when no fewer than 15 trueks of prime lambs were consigned to the -works by Messrs Donald Beid and Co. BUENSIDS STOCK SALES. Wednesday, February 26. Fat Cattle. —183 yarded. A full yarding, consisting principally of cows and heifers, with an odd pen of good quality bullocks. At the commencement of the sale prices were much the same as last week, but as the sale progressed prices receded, there being a drop of 15s to 20s per head for bullocks, and 10s to jss per head for heifers and cows.' Best bullocks, £lO 15s to £l2; extra, to £l3 7s fid; medium, £9 10s to £lO ss; inferior, £7 10s to £B. Best, cows and heifers brought £B. 10s to £9 ss; extra, £ll 17s (id; medium, £7 to £7 10s; inferior, £5 to £5 15s.

Fat Sheep—2osl yarded. A full yarding; too many for butchers' requirements. Freezing buyers were unable to operate owing to the works being blocked, any available space being reserved for lambs. As the sale progressed prices receded till at the end of the auction all classes of sheep were almost unsaleable. Prime wethers, up to 23s (id; extra, to 28s; medium, up to 21s 6d; light, 18s to 20s; prime ewes, up to 20s; extra, to 22s 6d; medium, up to 17s 6d; inferior, 13s rjd to 15s.

Fat Lambs.—lo46 yarded. A small yarding. Freezing buyers were operating with caution. The quality was only rair, and prices were much on a par with last week's rates. Best lambs, 16s (id to 17s Od; extra, to 10s; medium, 14s !)d to Iss fill; inferior, 13s to 14s. Pigs.—ss tat and 63 store pigs were yarded. Competition for stores was very keen, and fats sold at late rates. Suckers Drought to 20s, slips to 245, stores to 30s, porkers to 45s and baconers to 70s. LOCAL SALES. National Mortgage and Agency Company sold for Mr A. Bell (Stirling; two bullocks at £ll ss, three at £ll 12s 6d, two at £lO 7s 6d; Mr Allison (Balclutha) 64 prime wethers to 225; Mr A. J. Hall t,Clinton) pen prime wethers at 235, pen ewes 19s. Dalgety and Company, (Ltd.) yarded and sold for Mr T. Parker (Stirling) one bullock at £l2 17s 6d, one uo at £ll 2s (id. five do at £lO 12s 6d, one do at £9; Mr .). Diekison (Pomahaka) 28 wethers at 17s 9d.
