BALOLUTHA STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile. Agency Company report a good yarding of sheep and cattle at the Balclutha yards on Friday last. There was a fair attendance of buyers and others interested. Taking the sheep sale all through bidding was fairly spirited, and prices showed an advance of Is to Is 6d on previous sales. Cattle.—The sale was rather dull and prices were not so good as compared with last sale. We yarded and sold:—Fat wethers, from. 21s to 235; lambs, 10s 8d to 13s; fat hoifers, from £6 to £7 4s; steers and heifers, from £3 10s to £4; pigs and suckers from 12s 6d to 13s 6d.

Donald Reid and Company, Limited, report having held their usual fortnightly sale on Friday, February 21, to a good attendance of the public. Cattle were much the same as last sale, but sheep showed a decided improvement. We yarded 1026 sheep, 135 head of cattle, 1.0 pigs, and sold at the following- prices:—Fat wethers, 17s to 235; fat ewes, 15s 7d to 17s 7d; fat lambs, 16s; rape lambs, 12s 5d to 14s 7d; store lambs, to 9s 9d; fat cows, £5 12s to £7' Is; fat heifers, to £6 _l2s 6d; two-year-old steers, £5 to £6; pigs,—suckers, 6s to 10s 6d.
