Rhodes (I'ost-. master-General) with reference to the suggestions ,that gauges be placed, one in the Kawarau river, one in the Clutlia and one below the junction of the two rivers, to enable the height of the rivers to be correctly stated. In reply, the Postmaster-General states that neither .the Cromwell Borough Council, the Tnchclutha River Board nor the Balclutha Borough Council were prepared to defray the cost, about £2, of a gauge in the Molyneux.
