Having once fallen into temptation the prisoner, hoping tr)ut things would get better, tried to pull himself out, but sank dee|>er in the mire. Tho,accused, Robert Mayo, for 12 years manager of tho Bideford branch of Lloyds Hank, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment in the second division for embezzling sums of £'2s and £lO. On receiving cheques paid in by customers be had filed in credit clips', but instead of passing them through the accounts had substituted others for smaller amounts. Tho passbooks ho entered up himself with tli correct credits.
