MAGISTRATE'S COURT, OWAKA.

Mr Cruickshank presided at the Owaka Court on Wednesday. There were only two cases. T. Bates Olr I>. Stewart) v. J. Allan (Mr Grigor). Claim for bullock alleged to have been lost.—J. Allan also put in a counter claim.—Judgment given for Hates for £3, with costs £3 7/-. G. F. Wcstbury - v. Rix, Harle, and Falconer. Claim for damages alleged to' have been incurred by the sons of defendants hammering son of plaintiff. All parties are Hunts Road settlers. Herbert S. Westbtiry, boy assaulted, stated he had been assaulted when cdming home from school by three boys Rix, Harle, and Falconer. They knocked him down, beat him with a flax butt, and threw stones at him for two miles. As a consequence his injuries necessitated the calling in of a doctor. The Harle, aged 14, was found to have committed the assault, and upon his" father paying 35/- costs all parties shook hands and went back to their homes.
