PORT MOLYNEUX.

A concert and dance (the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the Nurses' fund) was held in the Hall, Port Molyneux, which was nicely decorated for the occasion on Thursday evening 22nd the hail being literally crammed with a very appreciative audience. The concert opened by Miss Cramond who played a musical selection on the harmonium with her usual ability. It would be invidious to criticise the performers when one and all did their best. To give greater zest to the proceedings Sergt. Jackman of the <Clutha Mounted Rifles (in uniform), sang two patriotic songs which the audience highly appreciated. The concert was brought to a close by the audience singing a verse of the National Anthem. Afteran abundance of tea, and (cake gratuitously provided by the ladies of the district) had been partaken of, dancing interspersed with songs' was commenced and kept up with unflagging spirit until 3 a.m. The duties of M.C. were fulfilled by Messrs P. Bates and J. Potiki with their usually gentlemanly ability. A graphophone owned and manipulated by Mr A. Paterson added greatly to the evening's amusement. The proceeds of the entertainment realised the sum of L 7 12s.
