TAPANUI.
The weather, our unfailing topic, has been most unseasonably bad during the last month or two, and all outdoor occupations are at a standstill. The Farmers' Club Show is to be held on Friday first, but it is to be hoped that there will not be a repetition of Gore's experiences. A number of Tapanui people went to Gore but were ill rewarded for their trouble. At a recent meeting of our Farmers' Club 42 new members were proposed. I noticed that a great many of those were old residents of the district who have heretofore taken little or no interest in the club. The schools in this district have been examined lately by Inspectors G-oyen and Richardson. So far as I have heard the results were good. Owing to the flooded state of the streams there has been very^little fishing, one man only having been pretty successful in the ■ creeks getting as many as 45 fish in one day.
