WAIPAHI.

[From Our Own Correspondent.] Nothing of any interest has transpired since I wrote last ; even the weather has not changed for the better jet. Feed for stock is very scarce, especially in old gras3 paddocks, and sheep, etc , are not in such a condition as one expects to see at this season of the year. Farmers are busy preparing the ploughed land for turnip sowing, which will start in a week or two. The grain crops are not looking well on account of the rough weather; in fact, they were better six week's ago than they are now. Everything has suffered by the rough spring and is as far back as if we were only at the beginning of spring. The weather has been so inclement that only one end of the approaches to the new traffice bridge has grown to completion, and that is the shorter approach. I fancy we will have had some fine weather by the time the longer approach is finished. On Saturday last the Pukerau School boys journeyed to Waipahi and played a friendly game of cricket with the local school boys. The game resulted in a win for the Waipahi boys by 27 runs. The visitors were entertained as usual after the match, and left for home by the evening train in high spirits although beaten. Although the weather has been cold and stormy the angling season so far has keen a successful one and some very good baskets have been made. The river just now is in splendid order and is wel! worth a visit from any disciple of Walton's. I am sure the disciple would not return with a heavy heart a*ftd a light basket; it woulcl ?ust be the reverse. November 23.
