WAIWERA.

rf[Fhom Our Own CoRRKsroNDEN-r] \ A meeting was called for last Saturday night week by the officers of the M. and I. Association to take into consideration the advisability of holding a fiower show. Very few -ittended the meeting and for the present at least, the matter has fallen through. Bince Mr Boseveare's fire he has been the recipient of a well filled purse Besides erect ing new outbuildings to replace those destroyed by fire, Mr Eoseveare is going to erect a large addition to his residence. Mr P. Trail is the carpenter for the work. The hall committee have decided to hold their annual concert and ball on Christmas Eve and the annual picnic on Christmas day. The concert and ball used to be held on the evening of the day of the picnic, but Christmas day falling on a Saturday this year the change has ben necessary. The committee are endeavouring to secure some good performers fpr the concert, and it is to he hoped .their efforts will' be crowned with success. Ifc only requires the general public to roll up on the night of the concert and dance so as to help in a measure the hall committtee to effect any repairs tho hall may require. It is to be hoped as heretofore the picnic will not be overlooked on Christmas day. The prizes lor children are most numerous and liberal. •The township cari now boast of having a shoemaker. No doubt the enterprising tradesman will get a good bit of " cobbling " to do, ac the district is a large one, It is a pity the local cricketers are not possessed of a good ground. It is high time the

mayor or provost moved in tbe matter of I securing a reserve for recreation purposes.
