BRUCE LICENSING MEETING.

The first annual meeting of the licensing committee for the Bruce Licensing district was hold in the Court House, Milton, on Friday when there were present—Messrs M'Ara (Waitahuna), Smaill (Kaitangata), Fraser (Kaiiangata). Bowie (Lovells Flat), Wilson (Waihola), M'Skimmintr (Benhar), E. Wayne (Milton), ,T. Inalis (Milton). Jf the absence of Mr Hawkins, S.M., Mr Wayne was elected to preside. Applications for renewals of publicans' licenses were granted as follows : — G. Cnnmbe, Commercial Hotel, Milton ; F. Bastings, White Hr>rse Hotel, Milton ; M. Kott, Railway Hotel, Milton ; W. Ward, Bridge Hotel, Havelnck ; F. Dick, Inverness Hotel, Havelock ; F. M'G'ivcin Kaitanpata ; D. Carson, Kaitangata ; Mrs Lnks, Stirling Hotel, Stirling. A transfer of a license in respect to the Mtlton Hotel, from F. Grant to T. Grant was granted. An accommodation license was granted to Win Wain, of Glenore. All the licenses granted wers* 10 o'clock licenses, and permission was given to extinguish the lamps in front of all hotels at that hour. The Chairman said the committee desired him to state that they intended to see that the Act was acted up to in the ensuing year, and if there was any lapse it would be judued in the strictest way the law permitted. Sunday trading it must, be understood would be particularly looked after, but not this alone but any infringement of the Act would be most carefully watched. The committee' voted the clerk to tho committee a salary of LlO 103 per annum. The clerk intimated that under the Act members of committee residing more than three miles from the place of meeting were allowed their expenses. A hearty vote of thanks to the chairman for prefiding concluded the business.
