DISPOSAL OF THE POPOTUNOA. HOMESTEAD.

Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows : — The sale of the Popotunoa estate, held by us at the Athenaeum Ht.ll, Clinton, on Thursday afternoon, 17th inst. , by order of the executors of the late James Logan, attracted a very large attendance, the commodious hall being crowded. Bidding for some of the allotments on this fine property (which had been cut up into 36 farms) was very keen, whereas for others, which were either too large or too small for the class of buyers present, there was less competition. Out of the 36 farms offered, 28 were sold, and the remainininir eight are for sale by private treaty at prices and on terms which must render them a firstclass investment to those who may have the good fortune to acquire them. Tbe homestead farm, containing 652 acres, with its magnificent buildings and beautiful native bush, was sold at L4 153 per acre to the representatives of the Misses Louise and Emma Logan, and when, after the sale, it became known that two members of the family, of the late muchrespected Mr Logan had bought it, universal satisfaction was expressed. The range of prices was from L2 18s to L5 7s 6d per acre ; and of tbe 5,423 acres offered, 3,758 were sold at an average of L3 15s 7d per acre, as per detailed list subjoined :-— Lot 1. — Homestead block, comprising sections 44, 45. 46, 78, 84d, 85e, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 10, 11, 12, and 13, block IX., Pomahaka, and sections in Clinton, consisting of 652a 3r Go, at L4 15? per acre. — Misses Louise and Emma Logan purchasers, L3lOO 14s 9d.
