INCH CLUTHA RIVER AND ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the abovp board was held on Thursday even- 1 iug. There were present — Messrs Rntherford (chairman), Anderson, Henderson, Smith,and M'Donald. Mr Edward Tulloch wrote offering to deliver 14ft stringers on truck at Stirling for 7s 9d each. — Accepted. A letter was read from the secretary to the Clutha River Board, under date the

13th March, stating that the groin at the head of Inch Olutha having been completed for some time he was directed by the chairman to request payment of the contribution towards the cost agreed to by a deputation from the board, and also requesting payment of the sum of Ll3 los due by the boarq* for the use of steamer as per account rendered. It was moved by Mr M'Donald— " That the members of t tne board make an inspection of the groin and report at next ordinary meeting, and that the account rendered for the steamer, Ll3 10s, be passed for payment." , - Seconded by Mr Anderson and carried. Mr Henderson moved with reference to the widening of main centre drain from Bell's cross road up' to Mosley's belt — (s That the clerk write the chairman Bruce County Council and state that the board understood jfccording to arrangements with Mr Mosley that the ditch was only to be widened 2ft, which was to be taken off Mr Mosley's land right through from Bell's cross road to the belt, and not off the main centre road, as a number of ratepayers are objecting to the work being carried out as at present." Seconded by Mr Smith and carried. The Chairman reported that he expected to have the culvert across deviation road placed in position by Saturday, and an effort will be made to have the doors forward by that time. The clerk was instructed to procure one copy of the " Land Act 1892." The following accounts were passed for payment : — Taieri Advocate, advertising, LI 10s ; Otago Daily Tflhes, 10s 6d ; clerk, etc., salary four months, L 6 3s 4d ; stamps, LI 7s 7d ; inspection, L 3 3s ; rent and buggy hire, LI 5s ; Jas. Bell, LI 16s ; Clutha River Board, Ll3 J.os ; total, L 29 14s 2d. This was all the business, and the meeting closed.
