BALCLULHA SCHOOL.

Tho annual distribution of prizes in connection with the above school took place ou Wednesday in, ike presence of a, good number of parents and friends of the children. The ceremony was conducted, by his Worship the Mayor, who, after, presenting the various prizes, complimented them all — teachers and scholars — upon the very satisfactory progress .vhich they had made during the past year. It was very satisfactory to all concerned that not a single complaint from any source had been made to the Committee ; every one had worked harmoniously together, and he had no doubt it would continue to be so in the future. The holidays would extend to Monday, the Ist February, and he hoped they would all enjoy themselves, and come back with renewed vigor to begin the work of the next year. It was announced that next year Mr D. Stewart would give a gold medal for the dux of school. After giving three cheers for the teachers and for tho Committee, the children sang " God Save the Queen," and were served with lollies and cakes aud dismissed.
