The tender of Jam 33 Parker was accepted for contract No. 5, deepening ditch, and' road formation near Weight's belt, main centre I'oad, at 14s per chain.

A letter was read from Mr James Rutherford, fanner, near lower end of the island, drawing the Board's attention to the state of breach near his house, stating that in time of high tides the water flows over his crops. He asked the Board to do something to remedy thi3. It was resolved that Messrs , M' Donald, Smaill, and Mosley. make, ari inspection of the breach, with the view of having a flood-bank erected round same. — Tenders for this work to be laid before the Board at its next ordinary meeting.

A letter was received from Wm. Neal, manager for Mr H. C. Cameron, calling the Board's • attention to the state of the cross-road at Mr Cameron's property. The low part of the road near the lagoon he reported to bo dry, and asked the Board to have the same filled vp — to allow a dray to pass. — It was resolved that .the Working Committee also attend to this matter.

A letter was received from Mr John Watt, Ashgrove, enclosing account for LlO, for land taken and crop destroyed in removal of same in ma,king additions to stop-bank at breach No. 2, Matau Branch. —It was agreed that Mr Lawson . and the Clerk measure the quantity of land removed, with the view of having the claim settled.

Mr Watt also drew the Board's attention to. the necessity of having the remaining, .portion of land, taken for a road near breach N.O; 2, Matan. Branch; fenced off acccn;c\ii}g. to agreeraen);, He also asked the Board to have the. same fenced without delay as his crop was being destroyed by cattle. : He offered to erect a fence of eight posts to the- chain with six wires for the sum of 12s per chain.

A letter was received from Mr W. A. T&osley, calling the. > Bqarcl'a attention to balance of account, L 6, for land taken for ro.-id on section. 6, block vi., Inch Clutha, and reqesting a settlement of same. — Thu account was passed for -payment. Mr Donald Reid, solicitor, Milton, wrote reminding tho Board that his general bill of coss against the Board, Lls 14s Bd, rendered 21st April last, had not been paid. — Received.

It was resolved that the Clerk bo instructed to inform ratepayers that unless all rates were paid before the next ordinary meeting of the Board proceedings will be taken to recover same.

It was moved by Mr M' Donald, seconded by Mr Smaill— " That Mr Win. Kelly be appointed valuer at the usual salary, Ly." — Agreed to. Tho Clerk was instructed to order timber for docking of bridge over ditch on cross road near Smaill's.
