J On Saturday last a meeting, convened i by the Mayor, was held in the Town Hall, Tapanui, of persons desirous of presenting Mr Horace Bastings, M.H.R. for Waikaia, with a suitable acknowledgment of his services in connection with the Tapanui railway. Messrs "Ferguson (Mayor), if'Kellar, Herbert, Sheath, Sim, and Robertson were elected a Oommitke to canvass the district. After some discussion it was agreed to write to the Mayor of Roxburgh •and the Chairman of the Switzers Progress: Committee, informing them of the movement, and suggesting that these parts of the Waikain should take action in a similar direction. The meeting was unanimous in recognising the importance of Mr Bastings'. past services, "and we believe the movement will receive very general support.
