A. & Ff. Mercer report for the week ending Sept. 10, as follows : — Entail prices only. Fresh butter host quality, Is lOd; second quality, Is 8d to Is Gd ; Lump j ■ butter. Eggs are now very plentiful and i i retailing at Is 2d to Js 3d per dozen. j Maclean Brothers report, for the week end- ; - ins Sept. 11. as follows :— Fat Cattle.— A moderate supply came to hand | for the week's market — viz., 104 head. 05 of which were good to prime quality, the balance small and inferior. For the former there was ' keen competition, and high prices were obtained. Best bullocks (heavyweights) brought from £17 to £21 5s ; medium weights, £14 to £1(1 ; light , and inferior, £9 to £U 10s. Best cows brought from £12 10s to £16 ; small and. inferior, £8 to £9 10s. At the yards we sold on account of various vendors 40 head at above quotations. ; We quote prime beef at 42s Gd per 1001 b; medium, 355. Fat Calves. — Only five penned, which sold at from 30a to 60s. Fat Sheep. — 1236 only came forward for the week's supply. These beiujr good quality, changed hands readily at an advance of fully Is Gd over last week's rates. Best quality bi ought from 15s to 16s 9d ; medium, 12* Od to 14s. Fat Lambs. — 34 of these came forward, and sold at from 10s 9d to 13s 9d each Store Cattle and Sheep. -We have no transactions to report. Country Sales. — At Wangaloa, on the 6th inst., we sold on account of Mr Hay, cattle, horses, and implements at satisfactory prices. We would direct attention to our sale of dairy cows on account of Mi Todd, Half-way Bush, on Tuesday first, 17th instant. Wool.— Cablegrams to hand, under date Lon don, 7th September, reports :— " The wool market betrays symptoms of weakness in medium and faulty parcels, which preponderate. Superior wool is firm." Sheepskins. — "We had but a small catalogue on Monday last. The demand was active, and full prices were realised. Green cro^s-brods may be quoted at 5s to 5s 9d ; do merinoes, 4s 3d to 4s lOd ; dry skins, at 2s to 4s lOd each. Hides.— Continue in fair demand at prices equal to 4d to 4£d for sound wet salted per lb. During the week we have placed 90 privately at quotations. Tallow.— None offered. Good bright samples in shipping order are wanted. Grain. — Wheat is inquired for more freely, both for shipment and local use, but prices continue very low. We understand sales of ordinary milling have been as low as 3s 6d. We quote inferior and ordinary at 3s Od to 3s 9d ; good northern grain at 4s to 4s 2d. Barley is very scarce, and very ordinary quality, if suitable for malting, would command up to os. Oats are in fair demand at 3s 9d to 3s lid for good to fin.fppd ; seed and milling at 4s to 4s 2d ; stocks light.
