* M aclean Brothers report, for the week ending September 4, ai follows :—- --"Fat Cattle.— A full supply came forward for to-day's market — viz., 195 head. Of these, however, only a few pens were prime quality, consequently there was a considerable reduefcioa in prices from the two previous weeks. Best bullocks (heavy weights) brought #16 to £18 ss ; tredium £12 to £14 ; best cows, £9' 103 to £11 ; light weights, £7 to £8 10s. At the yards we sold, on account oE tbe N Z. and A. L. Co., Limited, from their Clydevale Estate, a draught of 50 bullocks at above quotations ; also, on account of Mr M'Donald and others, 24 head. Piivately during the week we have placed 50; head. Best quality at yards to-day made equal to 37s 6d ; medium and inferior, $0s to 35s per lOOlbs. l*"at Sheep. — The large number of 272T was penned for the week's supply, nearly all of which were good to prime quality. On account of the full supplies lately to band, sales were difficult to effect at anything like satisfactory prices, and several small lots in the hauda of the trade were held over. We sold on account of M Stndholme, Esq., Waitnate, a very prime draft of 500 crossbreds (the best lot offered tbis season), at from 15s 3d to 17s, barely 2^ per lb ; also, on account of the N. Z. and A. L. Co., a draft of 323 crossbreds (light weights), at lis 6d each; Store Cattle and Sheep. — We have no trailsactions of any consequence to report, but note a demand for well-grown cattle — very few offering. Country Sales. — We would direct attention to our sales at Wangaloa, on account of Mr Hay, on 6fch instant ; at Lovells Plat, on account of Mr J". Maciutosh, on 10th instant ; and at Halfway Bush, on account of Mr Todd, ou 17th instant. . Sheepskins. — Our usual weekly sale was well attended on Monday last. Competition was active, and prices showed au advance ott previous rates. Green cross-breds fetched from 5i to 5s 9d ; -merinoes, from 4s 3d to ss ; dry skins, from 2s 2d to 5s Id each, according to quality. Hides.— Good sound wet-salted hides are in excellent demand, and prices are firm at about 4d to 4|d per lb, at which figures we have placed several small lots during the week. Tallow is iz. request at fully late quotations. Grain.— Wheat : Millers are' buying very sparingly, and will only touch best descriptions. There has been a good demand for export, and several parcels ordinary quality have changed hands during the week at 3s 9d to 3s , 10^d. : Choice may be quoted at 4s to > 4*» 3d. Barley is in requcsb, good malting samples being -worth" up to 6s. per bushel. Oats are comjng forward slowly, and the market is quite bare of stock. • Prices nevertheless show little, if any, improvement. We quote feed at 3s 9d to 3s lOd, milling r and seed at 4s to 4s 3d. — . .
