BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
A meeting of the Inch Clutha River District Board of Conservators was held in the SchooHiouse there on Monday evensng. There were present Messrs Mosley (chairman), M'Donald, Bell, Anderson, and Smaill. MINUTES. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders for works were opened and accepted aa follows : — No. la— John Bell, LlO 17s 6d per chain ; Smith Brothers, LO 19. Smith Brothers' tender accepted. No. 3a— -John Johnston, LlO lis 9d per chain ; Smith Brothers, LlO 17, lOd ; Johnßell, LlO 10s. Bell's tender accepted. Wo. 1b — Hunter '& Co., 9^d per yard ; George Durno, L 4 17s fid perchain. Hunter and Co. 's tender aecetped. , No. 3b — John Frazer, per yard Is 6d, per chain L2O 10s ; George Durno, L 7 per chain. Durno's tender accepted. No. 4b — John Johnston, L 2 12s fid per chain ; Robert Jones, lOd per yard ; Hunter and Co., B|d per yard. Hunter and Co. 's tender accepted. River Protective Works — Malcolm M'Kinlay, Ll 18s j Robert Jones, L 4 10s. | M'Kinlay's tender accepted. j It was resolved that the contractors be I paid progress payments at the rate of 60 ' per cent, upon tlie amount of work done. It was agreed that an extension of time be given for the completion of Contracts Nos. 5a and sb, and that tenders be called for six additional contracts, to be pointedout by the Inspector of Works on the 11th September. ' INSPECTOR 01? WORKS. Four applications were received for the appointment of Inspector of Works. That of Mr William Kelly (Kaitangata) was accepted at 14s fid per day, he finding his own horse. OI.ASSIBTCATION OF LANDS. A discussion ensued upon the subject of the classification of lands upon tho island, but a final decision was postponed till next meeting. FINANCE. A discussion also occurred upon the subject' of borrowing funds for the prosecution of public works, but a decision upon this subject also was delayed. The meeting then adjourned till the 7th September, at 3 o'clock.
