It was resolved that all obstructionists be summoned forthwith, and. that the Solicitor for the Corporation be employed to conduct the ca^es. In reply to Councillor Dunne the Clerk reported that he had requested tbe Government to remove the telegraph i.osts from off the footpaths, , but bad received no .reply. He was requested again to call their attention to the matter. The Clerk was instructed to request the owners of verandahs obstructing the footpaths to have them removed wthin f urteen days, otherwise legal proceedings would be adopted. - Tbe Surveyor was instructed to call for tenders for raising the street to the proper level opposite the new. Temperance Hotel the cost not to exceed L 10 .: It was directed that negotiations be opened with Mr Marr for the purchase of metal now lying beside the main road north of the bridge. : • . • The Mayor intimated that be had appointed Thursday, the 16th instant as the nomination for Mayor. Councillors and Auditors, the same to be held in Barr's Hall. The poll, if any, for Mayor to take place on Tuesday, the 21st. The following gentlemen were appointed Returning Officers at the forthcoming election?:— South Ward, Court House, J. M. Russell. North Ward. Council Chambers, J. S. Fleming.
