The Government caucus members yesterday voted Mr Richard Prebble on to a party constitution review committee.
With a New Year reshuffle now to be considered by Mr Palmer, the vote was taken by some Labour M.P.s to signal a wish for Mr Prebble to return to the Cabinet.
The Prime Minister, Mr Palmer, yesterday announced the membership of the working party, after a Labour caucus ballot. Mr Prebble and the Minister of Justice, Mr Jeffries, were the caucus representatives elected, he said.
Ms Samantha Johnson, the public affairs manager for the Reserve Bank, and Mr Lloyd Falck, the chairman of the
Earthquake and War Damage Commission, were the party branches’ choices. Mr Palmer will chair the working party, which arose after Mr Prebble dropped legal action against the Labour Party. The make-up of the review committee was decided by the Labour Party conference in September.
Other members, announced yesterday, were: Ms Maryan Street and Ms Claudia Elliot, representing the Labour Party’s New Zealand Council.
Mr Fred Anderson apd Ms Pat Webster, representing the affiliates council of trade unions linked to the Labour Party. The Labour Party generalsecretary, Mr Tony Timms, is an ex-officio member of the working party.
