Fresh runners add to puzzle at Gore

The fresh runners, Exchequer, All Counted, Free Call and Miss Madonna, add to an intriguing form puzzle in today’s $20,000 Gore Centennial Cup. Fittingly, the club has attracted a grand field to mark its historic occasion. The first day showings of Walk Up and Sovereign Court were splendid trials. Alberjon (third) also pleased his connections in his first middle-distance assignment in his latest campaign. Garth Jackson, the Riccarton trainer of Exchequer, usually does not do things by halves when he sets a stayer for a $lO,OOO-plus race in the South Island.

Exchequer, successful two starts back at Riccarton, was checked in the middle stages when ninth at his last start on "his home course. All Counted’s Fireside Cup second at Wyndham 10 days ago was a grand trial. He is well-estaW lished in this company.
