Open house at Plains FM
The radio station, Plains FM, is holding open house and a radiothon on Sunday so listeners can see how the station works, to encourage more people to become involved in community broadcasting, and to raise funds for the StationVisitors will see and hear community and polytechnic student broadcasters on air, using the last day of the three-week “Great Wireless Comeback” to appeal for funds and other support for Plains FM. The appeal replaces the usual Sunday programme
from Plains FM, but during the day there will be interviews with regular presenters and those in community groups who put sessions to air. Plains FM is backed by the Canterbury Community Broadcasters’ Society and the society hopes to get many new members from the open day. The radio station is near the corner of Madras and St Asaph Streets. Those calling at the station will be able to learn more about Plains FM and how they can become involved.
