Class survey
Sir, — Our sixth-form legal studies class was assigned to contact by phone a number of community organisations, asking for information about what legal services they providp. We were surprised at the response — or lack of it.- From the seven groups we rang, the replies were: two answerphones, one ring back later, one consistently no reply, one would not say over the
phone, one reluctant information, one answer. Particularly disappointing was the response from the Citizens Advice Bureau, who told us they would not give us the information over the phone and that we should call in person to pick up a pamphlet. We feel dismayed and concerned at the apparent apathy demonstrated by groups supposedly serving the public, and wonder if people in need would get the same treatment. — Yours, etc., N. BEATTIE, (and 11 others), s Mairehau High School. September 15, 1989.
