Vigilance pays off
A man, aged 29, who was seen rather “obviously” entering St Albans properties was collared by a vigilant off-duty detective early last evening.
The detective was travelling down Gresford Street soon after 5 p.m. when he spotted the man suspiciously entering a number of properties in the area, said Inspector J.
D. D. Reilly, last evening.
The detective apprehended the man and asked a member of the public to telephone for police back-up. While the man was being restrained, a scuffle broke out briefly on the roadside.
Mr Reilly said a man had been charged with preparing to commit a crime
