Hornby youth missing A 16-year-old male with a history of depression, Blair Nathan Leathwick, went missing from his Boston Avenue, Hornby, home early yesterday afternoon and the police are concerned for his safety. Blair was wearing a black jacket and grey tracksuit pants when he went missing. He has black hair, grey eyes, and is sft 7in tall. He was possibly travelling on a green 1 flspeed bicycle. Bull thief arrested A woman was arrested by the Christchurch police when she attempted to sell an ornamental bull to an antique store after having stolen it from another antique store yesterday afternoon. The woman was arrested at Portobello Antiques, Sydenham, after she stole the porcelain bull from Similar House, Beckenham, a few hours earlier. She would appear in the District Court later this week, the police said. False collectors The police have warned the public to be wary of false charity collectors following reports of a male, aged in his 20s, posing as a Cot Death Society collector in Spreydon yesterday afternoon. The police said the man was wearing a suit and had collar-length blond hair. Reports of his illegal activities were investigated by the police at 2.30 p.m. They suggested members of the public should ensure any collector for the red nose appeal was associated with the Cot Death Society appeal. Wang lays off staff The computer firm Wang NZ, Ltd has laid off 11 of its staff of 250. The marketing manager, Mr Kevin Doddrell, said the lay-off, effective immediately, had nothing to do with the savage cuts the parent organisation in the United States had been making.
