New students to get help
People wanting to go to university who have not been in a formal learning institution for some time will receive encouragement tinder a New Start programme. The programme is being run by the University of Canterbury’s Department of Continuing Education on Saturdays, from September 23 to October 28. New Start will enable people to decide whether they wish to enrol at the university, and if so, to develop the study skills required for success. Two other courses are being run by the department in the third term; both take place on the week-end of November 25-26. “The twentieth century manager" is for first-time and experienced managers and suitable for school board of trustee members. “How to run a computer business at home,” and the third course, will teach people how to take advantage of more than 100 homebased computer opportunities.
