Car hit by train
An elderly Otaki woman is lucky to be alive after her car was hit by the Silver Fern on Monday. Mrs Vera McLeavey was driving through an uncontrolled crossing 300 metres south of the Otaki station when the accident happened about 5.45 p.m. Her car was extensively damaged, and Mrs McLeavey suffered serious leg injuries. — PA.
