Shoe industry inquiry
The Minister- of Commerce, Mr Butcher, has ordered an inquiry to establish whether the footwear industry is being harmed by imported shoes. Mr Butcher said he had asked for an independent report on whether urgent action was needed to protect the industry in the wake of the lowering of tariffs and phasing out of import licences. — PA.
